General Tips

  1. Make sure you charge your batteries as we will be taking hundreds of photos during the course. Bring a spare battery if you have one. If possible also bring your charger as there is some opportunity to charge your battery throughout the day.
  2. Clear your memory card so that you have lots of space for pictures during the day.
  3. You will not need a tripod for this class.
  4. Bring a lense for this course. Only one lense is required but please bring all of your favourites so you can try them out through the day! Also bring prime (single-focus) lenses if you have them.
  5. Lunch and snacks are provided. Please let us know ASAP if you have any dietary restrictions.
  6. Course notes and a quick reference guide are included in the session. You may wish to bring extra paper and pen to take notes but most of our students get through the day and remember what is taught without supplementary notes.

Outdoor Season (May – September)

  1. We will be starting at Calgary Olympic Plaza located at the corner of 8 Ave SE and Macleod Ave SE at 9am. Meet underneath the flagpoles located eastern most point of the park.
  2. Your class will finish at the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre located by Eau Claire Centre, around 4pm. Please make the appropriate transportation requirements.
  3. The majority of the course is outdoors. Please dress appropriately for conditions. This includes warm clothing, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug-spray and other possible requirements. Watch out for the possible course cancellation approximately 24 hours in advance to the start of the course. You can find our weather cancellation policy in the terms and conditions located here.
  4. There is approximately 2 km of walking throughout the day. If you have a very large zoom lens you may want to consider leaving it at home instead of carrying it throughout the day. We can perform the vast majority of exercises with standard lenses.
