Spring is an amazing season that brings nature back to life and so much beauty to capture with your camera. If you are experiencing that invigorated feeling and are inclined to step out and take some new Spring photos, here are some suggestions.
Beautiful landscapes
Kelowna is well endowed with beautiful scenes of sparkling waterfronts, asymmetrical hills and orchards galore. The waters are still and provide the best background for photography especially for mirror images. The Okanagan balsam root, blossoming flowers and the clear blue sky gives you breathtaking shots that will leave people wowed. The blowing wind, swaying willow trees with branches that almost form arches adds esthetic beauty to Kelowna walk ways. You will be tempted to try out vertical shots of the tree trunks and the sky to capture in all this beauty.
Perfect timing
During the spring season the days are normally longer than the nights. You will want to take advantage of the sunrise and the sunset since there is nothing more beautiful than these two times of day. The best moment to achieve the perfect shots will be in the early morning, late afternoon or late evening in order to capture dramatic scenes. During these times, taking shots of wild plants and flowers will be a stroll in the park. You can capture landscapes, flowers and the breathtaking flora to bring out the true beauty of spring. Remember there is nothing more beautiful than taking photos of a bed of tulips as they give surreal images of high contrast scenes. While photographing family and other “people” shots, you might consider using the sun and the beautiful scenery to your advantage.
Great places for Spring Photography around Kelowna
Morning walks at Kalamoir Regional Park in West Kelowna would be the best distraction for any visitor, traveler or resident of Kelowna. The soft light and gentle wind will provide great vista shots for you. It is a great place to wander around and take wild flower photography. The view up on Knox Mountain is equally breathtaking. While taking flower shots you might consider using wide-angle which will be ideal for showing a flower in its habitat or a close-up focused telephoto that isolates it. Macro photography is perfect during the morning since the flowers are quite still. You can create a mystery in your photos by taking shots of trees and make them appear as if they are fading in the background.
Spring awakening
The spring season is known to be picture perfect due to the beautiful splash of color that comes with it. The daisies, tulips and other bulbs are blossoming and provide a colorful touch to the fields and mountains. Fruit trees are flowering in the orchards from Osoyoos up through the valley. You might consider a drive along Highway 97 for some breath taking orchard shots.
