Wildlife; the more extreme the better.

Nikon D7100 & 9 kilos of lenses

Travel Photography

What is your profession?

Marketing Assistant/Relationship manager in the Investment industry

What kind of photographer were you before LPC?

The only type of photography I did was on the point and shoot camera and my iphone.  I did very little of each.

What inspired you to take your first course?

I decided that I wanted to capture the beautiful surroundings on my bucket list trip to Morocco and in order to do that I needed to have a new camera.

Why do you think LPC has been good for your photography?

LPC has been fantastic in that I learned so much in one day sessions by getting out and doing it.  There was lots of time to practice each new topic introduced in the day and I was less intimidated by my camera at the end of the first course.  In fact, at the end of the first class I signed up for 2 more classes and at the end of the second class I signed up for the remaining two courses they offered.  I now keep bugging LPC to come up with more courses that I can take and I will give them ideas of subject matters that I would like to learn about.

What is your favourite subject for photography?

My favourite subject for photography has to be flowers, my daughter and travel photography.  When I am someplace new I seem to get very excited and inspired to take great photographs.

What kind of camera do you have?

My camera is the Olympus OM-D10 mirrorless camera with the interchangeable lens system.  I am always looking at what new lens can I add to my quiver now.

Additional Comments:

I never thought I would have enjoyed taking up this new hobby.  I have not found it a chore and taking these courses has given me a new creative lease.  I look at nature and landscapes differently even when I don’t have my camera on me.  There have been many times that I have said “I wish I had my camera.  Look at how cool a photo that would have been”.   The absolute best part about taking up photography as a hobby is that when something doesn’t turn out it’s not that big a deal you can just hit the delete button.  I highly recommend taking a course through LPC because the instructors have an amazing passion for the subject matter and will answer any question even if it doesn’t pertain to the topic being taught at that moment.  I am so thankful that I can just ask why didn’t my photo turn out in a particular situation and they can answer me with a simple and easy explanation.  I love not taking courses in a classroom setting also as that isn’t about real life photography.

Portrait Photography

What is your profession?

I am a Professional Portrait Photographer

What kind of photographer were you before LPC?

I was very new to photography, a hobbyist you could say.  I was shooting with a low end DSLR camera on auto.

What inspired you to take your first course?

I wanted more out my photos but felt limited by not knowing how to shoot in manual mode or understand all the functions on the camera itself.

Why do you think LPC has been good for your photography?

James was able to take me from auto shooting to manual mode in the digital 1 class alone.   Feeling more confident I attended the Night photography class where he taught techniques that lend to more of  the creative side of photography, which I Loved!  And without taking the private Photoshop workshop I would have most likely gotten frustrated and given up using the extensive program.

Learning about ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed and how they work together gave me full control over my images.  As an artist at heart this made Photography my new art form and maybe my new favorite.

What is your favourite subject for photography?

I absolutely adore photographing children as they have  such a contagious zest for life.   How can you resist capturing real unconstrained smiles and bright shiny eyes.

Throw one of those little cuties in a golden hour back lit field… swoon. haha!

What kind of camera do you have?

Thanks to a recommendation from James I am the proud owner of a Nikon D610 body.  I have a variety of lens but favor my Sigma 85mm 1.4
