Digital I – Beginner Photography

The Digital I beginner photography course is where it all starts.  Interested in taking amazing travel photographs to remember where you’ve been?  Or maybe you’re keen to capture those once-in-a-lifetime memories of your children growing up.  This is the place to start.

This introductory course is designed for people who are using their SLR camera in either “Auto”, the “P” setting or any of the automatic functions in the camera such as landscape, portrait of macro mode.  Whatever mode you’re using, we will show you how to better handle the camera and give you the power to express your artistic creativity in it’s best light.  By the end of the day you’ll be using terms like “aperture”, “shutter speed” and “ISO” fluently, understand what they mean and how they affect your overall picture.  Throughout the course we begin to touch on important topics such as how to best capture portraits of people, landscape and travel photography and a whole host of other photographic topics.

Night Photography

Our Night Photography course is one of our most popular and with good reason!  We only run this course 2-3 times each year when the weather is warm and our instructors are happy to spend ample amounts of time in the great outdoors.  Night Photography is one of our absolutely favourite courses to teach.  It’s one of the few photographic mediums that look better on picture than what the human eye can see.  What that means is that by using the correct techniques, you are able to create effects that nobody else has been able to create  – and that’s an art form in of itself.

Our photography instructors get absolutely giddy when they find out that they are teaching the night course.  We always bring several flashlight, sparklers, glow rods and an assortment of tools to make sure that you get the most out of shooting after the sun goes down.  Subjects that we cover include physiograms, light painting, startrails, and light trails.  This is of course combined with lots of hands-on practice in taking crystal-clear and beautiful night photographs of the Alberta Legislature.

Join us for one of our favourite courses.  We would love to see you there!
