On this page you can find many answers to your questions about how to best prepare for your course, locations and what to expect.

General Tips

  1. Please charge your camera battery!  Bring an extra one if you have it handy.  It is also a good idea to bring a charger as we will be taking hundreds of photographs over the day, some with flash.
  2. You will not need a tripod.
  3. Bring basic zoom lenses.  A telephoto lens is optional but helpful in some exercises.  Also bring prime (single-focus) lenses if you have them.
  4. Lunch and snacks are provided.  Please let us know ASAP if you have any dietary restrictions.
  5. Basic course notes are included in your class.  You may wish to bring extra paper and pen to take notes.
  6. Specific course locations and meeting points will be emailed to you when you register for the course. Generally our courses take place in the downtown area. Please check your email as we may change the meeting location up to 24hrs in advance of the course (often due to weather). If there is any confusion as to the where and when, feel free to give us a call.
  7. When the weather is nice we try to spend a lot of time outdoors.  Please dress appropriately for conditions.  This includes warm clothing, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, bugspray and other possible requirements.
  8. There is approximately 1-2 km of walking during the day. Wear comfortable shoes. For those of you with very large zoom lenses, you may want to leave them at home instead of carrying it throughout the day.
